Businesses, websites and ‘the none business folk’ have a chance to own a minute of Internet history to promote their product, server or whatever they like, then when all the minutes have been filled (1440 minutes in a day) the auctioning will begin.
www.buytheminutes.co.uk is a website that enables the purchase of advertising for one minute, this minute will be the same minute everyday for a minimum of 5 years. This website gives the benefit of a huge banner add and link as well as a chance to auction off the purchased minute and make a profit.
The website is the brainchild of web entrepreneur and IT specialist Stephen Greenhalgh who is looking for different ways to provide advertising for businesses and individuals on the web using unusual solutions.
The first customer of www.buytheminutes.co.uk reflects on the effectiveness of his advert. Mr Stephen Fagan, of ‘Steve’s Decorators’ says “I was sceptical at first but this service has provided my small business with a web presence and advertising in one place in a unique way, I am looking forward to the popularity of this website.â€
The service is available for as little as 50pence a day. www.buytheminutes.co.uk have teamed up with PixelFest Limited (a local provider of IT and web services) to display the minute reel on the splash pages of their upcoming launch of a free wireless hotspot network around the UK.
Once all the minutes have been purchased the advertisement owner will be able to sell or auction off their minute to another advertiser or individual providing them with some potential profit once their advertising campaign has finished.
